Friday, November 9th, 2007

There’s been a lot of discussion over the past six months about the CSS Working Group and the pace of CSS3 development . Here are some of the highlights.

  1. Andy Budd writes a proposal for CSS2.2
  2. fantasai (Invited Expert, CSSWG) responds with a look inside the working group in Behind the Scenes: What is the CSS Working Group doing? and Pulling Back the Curtain: Opening Up the CSS Working Group.
  3. Ian Hickson (Google, WHATWG) criticizes the CSS Working Group and concludes that it is irrelevant.
  4. Alex Russell starts a discussion of CSS3 as a failure.
  5. David Baron (Mozilla Foundation, CSSWG) responds with his view on some of the issues raised.
  6. Alex Mogilevsky (Microsoft IE team, CSSWG) explains his experience with the CSSWG, blames implementations for the lack of progress, and argues that the CSSWG is indeed relevant in CSS not moving? Blame Microsoft!
  7. Andy Clarke announces the CSS Eleven with reactions both encouraging and skeptical.
  8. The CSSWG releases the 2007 Snapshot to mixed reviews.
